PTPN X (PT Perkebunan Nusantara X), is one of the fourteen state owned enterprises which operate in the plantation industry. Its business comprises cultivation of oil palm and rubber, and the production and sale of oil palm and rubber products. The company's main products are Crude Palm Oil (CPO), Palm Kernel, dry rubber and downstream rubber products.

The enterprise was established through a take over of the Dutch plantation companies in 1958 by the Republic of Indonesia, through the process of nationalization of foreign plantation companies, to form Perseroan Perkebunan Negara (PPN)

In 1968, PPN was restructured by the Government to form a number of Perusahaan Negara Perkebunan (PNP). Thereafter, in 1974, the legal status of PNP was changed to that of a limited company and given the name PT. Perkebunan (Persero). In order to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of state owned companies/enterprises the Government of Indonesia restructured the state owned companies/enterprises in the plantation sector, through the process of merging companies on the basis of geographical locations. Concurrently, the organization structures of the companies were also streamlined. In 1994, through a process of merger of managements, the managements of three state owned plantations, namely PT. Perkebunan III (Persero), PT.Perkebunan IV (Persero) and PT.Perkebunan V (Persero), were unified under the management of PT.Perkebunan Nusantara III (Persero).

Thereafter, through Government Regulation No. 8 of 1996 dated 14 February 1996, the three companies, whose businesses were located in North Sumatera, were merged into one company and given the name PT. Perkebunan Nusantara III (Persero), located in Medan, North Sumatera. PT. Perkebunan Nusantara III (Persero) was incorporated through By Laws of the company notarized by Harun Kamil, SH, carrying Number 36 of 11 March 1996, and legalized by the Minister of Justice of the Government of Indonesia through Decree No. C2 8331.HT.01.01.TH.96 dated 8 August 1996, and published in the Gazette of the Republic of Indonesia No. 81 of 1996, and Annexure to the Gazette No. 8674 of 1996.

        The Sosro brand, a well-known tea brand in Indonesia, is taken from the Sosrodjojo family name, the owners of the company. They started the business of marketing jasmine tea based in Slawi, a small town in Central Java province, in 1940. The first brand was called Cap Botol (or the bottle sign).

        In 1965 the Cap Botol jasmine tea was first introduced to Jakarta by promoting the product with the marketing name of cicip rasa (or today known marketing name of free samples). During the free tasting promotion, the jasmine tea was brewed on the spot, but the time required for brewing was too long for some of their more impatient customers. To overcome this problem, the promotion staff brewed the tea in the office before going to the promotion location and poured the ready-to-consume jasmine tea into big pots and pans. However, this technique did not solve the problem; the tea in large pots and pans spilled over on the way before they reached the location.

        Another solution was found by placing the brewed jasmine tea in clean used glass bottles, which were normally used for packing soda, soy sauce and other products. It was successful and gave birth of the teh botol (or tea in a bottle) brand name in 1969. The official name was Teh Botol Sosro.
        The first bottles were introduced in 1970. In 1972, they re-designed the bottles. In 1974, with the establishment of PT. Sinar Sosro (a company producing the Teh Botol Sosro) in Ujung Menteng (part of Bekasi at that time), they re-designed again the bottle which remains until today.

        Sudah tahukah anda standar gaji berbagai posisi di Indonesia? Bisa dikatakan gaji pegawai di Indonesia sangatlah relatif tergantung dari banyak faktor namun yang terpenting dan sangat mempengaruhi yaitu jabatan, lokasi daerah, dan level perusahaan nasional atau multinasional. Menurut thread yang ada di kaskus, berikut perkiraan gaji pegawai sesuai tingkatan karir di perusahaan swasta terbaru, tahun 2012.

        Standar Gaji di Indonesia

        1. Fresh Graduates - Kisaran gaji Rp2 – Rp3 juta per bulan.
        Gaji ini tentunya sudah lumayan untuk anda yang baru lulus S1 dinilai dari tingkat persaingan dengan para sarjana lainnya. Artinya masih banyak lulusan sarjana yang bersedia bekerja dengan gaji di bawah 2 juta per bulan.

        2. Asisten Manajer - Kisaran gaji Rp5 – Rp8 juta per bulan.
        Jabatan asisten manajer sangat layak anda pegang jika sudah bekerja 3 hingga 5 tahun. Namun jika dalam kurun waktu ini jabatan anda tidak naik-naik maka silakan pertimbangkan karir anda di perusahaan saat ini. Kecuali gaji anda naik rata-rata 20 % setiap tahunnya, tentu lain lagi persoalannya.

        3. Manajer / Kepala Bagian - Kisaran gaji Rp10 – Rp15 juta per bulan.
        Untuk bisa mencapai posisi ini anda harus mempunyai pengalaman setidaknya 7 hingga 10 tahun. Gaji ini tentunya dibarengi dengan kenaikan tunjangan lain termasuk kendaraan pribadi.

        4. General Manajer. Kisaran gaji Rp20 – Rp30 juta per bulan.
        Gaji ini ditambah tunjangan plus bonus yang bisa berlipat-lipat dari gaji.

        5. Kepala Divisi / Eksekutif/ Direktur / Direktur Utama - Kisaran gaji Rp50 – Rp100 juta per bulan.

        6. Business Owner - Kisaran gaji tidak terbatas.
        Jika anda tidak ingin selamanya hanya menjadi karyawan, sebaiknya pertimbangkan untuk membuka usaha sendiri. Anda pemilik usaha dan anda sendiri yang akan menentukan gaji anda sendiri.

        Sementara itu mengutip survei yang dilakukan kellyservices.co.id, gaji di bidang perbankan untuk teller minimal Rp2 juta, customer service 3 juta, auditor bank Rp3,5 juta dan manajer keuangan Rp18 juta. Sementara itu di bidang perkantoran gaji sekretaris minimal Rp4 juta, resepsionis Rp1,5 juta dan manajer kantor Rp8,5 juta. Di bidang pemasaran, gaji seorang manajer PR mencapai Rp15 juta, manajer marketing Rp30 juta dan manajer penjualan memiliki gaji Rp17,5 juta.

        Addressing the cover letters – avoid these three major mistakes

        Many professionals spend hours writing and re-writing their cover letter. With each resume submission, we tend to revise our cover letter to make sure that it is personalized for the position we are applying for. While we spend so much time on the content of the cover letter, we seem to disregard a very important and prominent area of the letter – the address line. Most mistakes in the cover letter are made in the address line.

        This is very problematic as this is the first piece of information that the potential employer sees on your resume. If mistakes are made in the address line, it is likely that the potential employer will discard the letter and you will lose an opportunity to be considered as a candidate for the job that you want. The following three mistakes are most common in addressing the cover letter and should be considered before your cover letter is sent to the employer:

        1. Not addressing the letter to a person. This is a big mistake in the world of cover letters. Generic greetings, such as "To whom it may concern" or "Dear Human Resources Team," are not favorable. If the job description or posting does not include the contact person, you will need to do some research to find out who the appropriate contact is for the job you are applying for. Additionally, avoid addressing the letter to a job title. Call the organization and find out who is the hiring manager or the recruiter for the job, and address the letter directly to them. In case it is impossible to find out who the appropriate contact is, it is often recommended that you leave off any generic greetings and simply begin the cover letter.

        2. Misspelling the name of the organization. Even if you are addressing your cover letter to a specific person, you will still need to include the name of the company and their address. Always make sure that the company name is spelled correctly. Hiring managers and recruiters know from experience that misspelling the company name is a common mistake, but it's the easiest one to avoid. Triple-check the company name on your cover letter. If your potential employer receives the letter with the incorrect company name, your letter will never make it past the first person who receives it.

        3. Your first sentence doesn't explain why you are contacting the company. This is a common mistake as many people assume that stating that you are contacting the company regarding employment, as you are including your resume, is unnecessary. However, this is not the case. Let your potential employer exactly why you are contacting them; state the title of the job you are interested in, and how your qualifications make you an ideal candidate for the job. Your first statement needs to be straight forward, energetic, and positive, and it should invite the employer to read through the rest of the cover letter. Bland and generic opening statements will result in disinterest on the part of your employer, and your resume will not get pass the first review.
